5 Simple Ways to Take Better Care of Yourself
To say that reclaiming and sustaining your health has been made into a wildly complicated equation is a gross understatement. There are dozens of new formulas pouring out of the diet and fitness industry every week promising to optimize your health. Each one claims to be the BEST and the only one you will ever need, which can easily leave you a hot frustrated mess trying to figure out how to become your best-kept self.
Hear this, sweet sister…
Taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be so complicated.
If you aim to consistently respect the needs of your mind, body, and soul, you will be off to a fantastic start towards claiming and maintaining deep health for the long haul.
The most essential needs your body has are:
- Clean, Nutrient Dense Food
- Elegant Thinking
Let’s review each one in a little more detail and give you a few tips on how you can “simply” do a little better with them.
If your food is complicated, it probably isn’t the BEST choice to fuel your body with.
Processed foods tend to have lots of ingredients, many of which sound like a lab experiment (because they are), that your body will fail to recognize as nutrition.
Stick to the perimeter of the grocery store when you shop. You are more likely to purchase whole foods and steer clear of the processed goods, while also greatly reducing the amount of time you spend in the store.
Movement creates vitality. Sit less, move more throughout your day
Taking time out of your day for an exercise session is fantastic but health can be greatly improved by simply increasing your non-exercise movement, as well.
Look for playful ways to incorporate more movement into your day: carry one bag in from the car at a time rather than all 8 at once, take regular breaks from sitting to go for a walk, play with your kids, or dance with your bad self.
Every ounce of your physiology depends on water to function properly. When you drink water regularly you are helping your body to create and deliver energy more efficiently and your mind to stay focused for longer periods of time.
Carry water with you and when given a choice, always opt for water. If you have no idea how much water you are currently drinking, measure your water intake for a few days. You may be surprised how little water you are actually drinking.
Lack of sleep can have detrimental effects on your brain and bodily functions. When you sleep your brain restores, your body detoxes, your immune system is fortified. Sleep is where the magic happens.
Set a bedtime for yourself and stick to it. At the very least, take a 20 min snooze in the day. And, please (for the love of your health) stop looking at sleeping as being “unproductive”. It may just be some of the MOST productive time you spend on your health in a 24-hour period.
Health does not grow in a negligent, hostile or toxic place, which the mind can certainly become without proper attention and direction. If you aren’t exerting consistent daily effort to keep your mindset nourished and alert, it can easily get stuck playing the tune of mediocrity, making progress downright impossible.
Meditation, journaling, breathing and gratitude practices, affirmations, uplifting books and podcasts can go a long way to establish a mindset that propels you closer to your goals.Taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be so complicated. #Simple #SelfCare Click To Tweet
