Love is always a choice.

I arrived in Houston yesterday with my son to spend some time with my father.

I don’t see him as often as I’d like to. Yes, because COVID threw a wrench in visitations, but also because my amazing dad has been caring for his wife w/ Alzheimer’s disease…

FOR nearly 25 YEARS! (yes, you read that correctly)

It is always awe-inspiring to be in the presence of his unconditional love for her AND heartbreaking to see the costs to his own life and well-being for his unwavering dedication.

His wife cannot do the simple things so many of us take for granted…

She cannot speak.
She cannot feed herself.
She cannot go for a walk
She cannot dress herself.
She cannot go to the bathroom by herself.

Why am I sharing this?

Because it is so easy to forget that…

Life IS uncertain.
Your health is so very precious.
Love is always a choice.

Take good care of yourself today (and every day), love on your peeps and be grateful for the opportunity to do it all.

I’ll be practicing the same right alongside you.

Love is always a choice.
