Doing the same thing over and over again expecting Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result...

Is that a sign of insanity or a serious practitioner? 🤔

Definitely worth considering what you want you are repeating because that is what you will become a master of.😉💕

Your wellness journey will get so much easier when Your wellness journey will get so much easier when you give yourself permission to...

Go back to the basics.

Seriously, think about it...

The masters of ANY skill spend a ton of time on practicing basic things and after a LOT of consistent effort they are able to stack the basics into more complex things.

Amazing art, incredible athletic feats, and the best books have been built on the back of basic practices.

And the same goes for your well-being.

Consistency with BASICS goes a really long way in elevating health and happiness.

This is why, Grace & Grit coach extraordinaire, @heatherring74 , is hosting a FREE workshop tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. MT called Back to Basics where she will review the basic measures that can radically improve the health of a human.

If you'd like to participate, just drop "basics" in the comments and I will send you the link to register for FREE!!!

The rumble is the cost of the rise. So how do you The rumble is the cost of the rise.

So how do you rumble well with something like discomfort?

=> Look for evidence from your past about all the ways in which discomfort allowed you to grow, evolve and expand as a human.

=> Start practicing leaning into "small" discomforts. Allowing an urge here, following through on a promise there. As the small discomforts get easier, then and only then, make the challenges slightly bigger.

=> YOU are a meaning-making machine. You can make discomfort mean that something terrible is happening (I am failing) or that something wonderful is happening (something new is about to be born).

=> Yes, there will be discomfort, but suffering? That part is optional. Consider how you might be contributing to your own suffering via your beliefs and your behaviors.

=> To change you will have to do things differently than you have done them in the past. There will be people who don't want you to change. Making people comfortable with decisions that are healthier for you, is not your work. It's theirs.

Rumbling right alongside you.

Often we embark on a change process because we get Often we embark on a change process because we get a hit of motivation so strong we feel compelled to take action… for a while.

A few days, weeks, or months pass, and, well…you know the drill… the spark that ignited our action starts to flicker out and resistance starts to rear her ugly head.

We start descending the slippery slope of compromise and negotiation because we often fail to feed the motivational fire.

Need some ideas to bring motivation out of her lair this week?

Here are just a few...

#1 REMEMBER WHY YOU STARTED

One of the first exercises I do with my clients and students is to help them get clear on who they are committed to becoming and I ask them to put it in writing.

Why?

Because life has a way of distracting us from what we want.

#2 MOVE

Movement creates life. It feels good and when we feel good… we feel more motivated to tackle challenging things.

Stretch. Go for a walk. Dance to the tune of a song.

#3 FOCUS ON THE IMMEDIATE BENEFIT

What will be the benefit of “doing the thing” in the next 24 hours? The human brain LOVES instant gratification… so give it some.

Eating better to feel better in your clothes in a few weeks, is a little motivating - but “a few weeks” can feel so... far... away.

Eating better so you can be less reactive, more focused, and energized is a reward you get in the next few hours. Remind yourself of that!

#4 HANG WITH THOSE WHO INSPIRE

If you aren’t feeling motivated, spending time in spaces and places with people who ARE can be oh-so-helpful.

This is partly why I love going to the gym. When I see people pushing themselves, it makes me want to push myself.

#5 CELEBRATE YOUR WINS

Winning is fuel for the motivational fire. When you acknowledge your progress and what you did well today, chances are you are going to want to show up to do the same things again tomorrow.

Spend 2-3 minutes at the end of every day acknowledging what went well.

What would you add to this list?

There are a ton of transitions that happen at midl There are a ton of transitions that happen at midlife. Changes in employment, relationships, living situations, and even hormones give the midlife woman a ton of opportunity to “rumble” with change.

In this week's episode of the Grace & Grit podcast, I remind listeners of the tremendous gift the liminal space of midlife can be and, more importantly, arm them with strategies for navigating the “in-between” with more ease and grace.

Specifically in this episode, I share:

🪐 Universal rumbles with change at midlife.

🤔 Deciding on your purpose rather than waiting for it to “find you”.

😬 How you might be distracting yourself from the real issues by mistakenly focusing on your body being the problem.

💪🏼 Practical steps for fueling your resilience for and acceptance of the change process.

If you could use a little help navigating midlife rumbling with more ease and grace, drop RUMBLE in the comments and I will send it to you!
