303: Mindset matters and… it isn’t everything.
I am a HUGE fan of mindset work and I deeply believe that it plays a significant role in what you do and what you don’t do. That being said,…
Listen Now!220: Fat Loss Basics, Part 2: The Foundation Matters
When it comes to fat loss, your hormonal health matters… a lot!
Your hormones are the government of your body, so when they are out of alignment, messages aren’t communicated correctly, things get a little (or VERY) confused and a lot of metabolic dysfunction ensues:
Your gut health gets disrupted.
Your mental health takes a hit.
Your organ’s ability to function at full capacity declines.
Your muscle health suffers.
… just to name a few things.
And all of this chaos, in turn, contributes to even more hormonal dysfunction and round and round it goes making fat loss feel impossible.
So the question is:
How do you heal and fortify your hormonal landscape?
183: Renovating Your Life to Support Your Health
I call the years between 40 and 60 the renovation years.
Why?
Because of shifting hormones combined with balancing more responsibilities than ever, we are really presented with an opportunity at this age and stage of life to take stock of our total stress load and make some hard choices in how to better manage that.
In this episode of the Grace & Grit Podcast, I share the advice that I believe women in our age bracket need to hear (far beyond cookie-cutter diet and exercise recommendations).
Listen Now!157: Restoring Hormonal Health w/ Kiran Ram
It is fundamentally impossible to create a state of deep health without adequate recovery and I will forever be reminding my listeners, my clients and my community that the answers to improving health are often not found in doing more but doing less.
In a culture that glorifies hustle, it can be really difficult to slow down and grant yourself adequate permission to rest and recover, which can dramatically affect your hormonal system. When hormones are disrupted everything feels challenging and no one understands this better than women entering perimenopause and menopause.
In this episode of the Grace & Grit Podcast, I have invited my friend, Kiran Ram, to the show to help women better understand how lifestyle choices can help to restore hormonal balance.
Have a listen and share your thoughts!

I am so excited to be hosting my dear friend, Laini Gray on the Grace & Grit show for the third time!
Laini is a wealth of information when it comes to hormones, gut health, liver function, and all-around lifestyle management to elevate health on just about every front.
If you have been enjoying the interviews this month on Hormonal Health, you do not want to miss this episode.
Listen Now!135: Understand Hormones via the DUTCH Test w/ Dr. Debbie Rice
Hormones are a topic we have talked a lot about on the Grace & Grit Podcast because let’s face it – hormones govern your body – and if they aren’t in their happy place…well…neither are you!
As I have crossed over the threshold of 40, I have become a lot more curious about the state of my own hormones. I feel amazing, but there are months when my PMS is simply out of control. My breasts hurt, I am reactive and I just feel like my body is not my own.
I have been hearing about the DUTCH Test for a few years now (DUTCH stands for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones), which you can do in the comfort of your own home.
The Dutch Test is being used by more and more physicians to remedy hormonal challenges in patients and has been endorsed by well known medical experts like Kris Kessler, Dr. Joesph Mercola, Dr. Ben Lynch, Christiane Northrup, and Sara Gottfriend.
When I asked my awesome Naturopathic physician, Elizabeth Stegmaier, about it she encouraged me to have the testing done not just for my benefit but to be able to educate you the listeners about the value of this type of testing. Not only has Dr. Stegmaier personally been using the Dutch test for years with her own patients, but she just happens to be friends with the top clinical advisors to the product, one of which agreed to join me on the podcast today, Dr. Debbie Rice.
Listen Now!133: Hormonal Health 101
This month we are talking all about hormonal health.
Hormones basically govern your biology, so if your hormones aren’t happy…well… neither are you.
In this episode of the Grace & Grit Podcast, I give a brief lesson in the primary hormones I think all women should be a bit more educated about.
While I am NOT a hormonal health expert, I have invited several guests to the show this month who are, so today’s podcast helps lay the foundation for those conversations.
Enjoy!
Listen Now!116: Becoming Your Own Healer w/ Dr. Anna Cabeca
There are certainly a lot of challenges that can present themselves as we age AND we also have a lot of choice in how much hardship we experience as we move through those challenges.
In this episode of the Grace & Grit podcast, Dr. Anna Cabeca and I cover a tremendous amount of territory on aging gracefully as a woman, including:

• How physiology drives behavior, and what we can do to improve our physiology.
• The anti-aging benefits of relationships and community.
• How trauma can impact the severity of menopause.
• The power cortisol has to disrupt hormones.
• The role gut health plays in hormone balance.
• Sexual health and so much more!
077: Nourishing Healthy Hormones (and Poops) with Melissa Ramos
The Grace & Grit podcast is dedicated to helping women expand their definition of health because deep health isn’t a look, deep health is a way of being that extends far beyond the narrow conversation of just food and exercise.
Sure, as women, we all want to look good, but we also want to FEEL good and, most of all, we want to be happy. And finding our happy isn’t about adding MORE “to do’s” to our life. Often finding our happy is about being true to ourselves, granting ourselves permission to slow the heck down and honoring the things our body, mind, and soul are telling us. Finding our happy also has a lot to do with hormonal balance.
And my guest today, Melissa Ramos, has made art of helping women to do all of those things. I have been following Melissa for years, and I have witnessed her message of hormonal and digestive health spread like wildfire… as it well should. She shares great information with humor AND she walks her talk.
Melissa Ramos is a nutritionist with a background in Chinese medicine and the founder of sexyfoodtherapy.com, where she helps women heal their hormones and digestion for healthy ovaries (and poops).
If you struggle with PMS, difficult periods, fibroids, endometriosis, menopausal symptoms, or digestive health issues do not miss this episode!
Listen Now!061: Real Talk About Hormone Testing & Supplementation w/ Holistic Nutritionist Laini Gray
I have one of my favorite people on the show today, Laini Gray. I have known Laini for almost a decade and I appreciate everything about her. Laini has a rare ability to take complicated issues and explain them in simple terms all while keeping things fun (cuz let’s face it topics like fat loss and hormonal chemistry can get a bit mind-numbing).
She has been in the health/wellness industry for over 20 years…you name it and she has probably done it. She started her career with a Bachelors degree in Recreation, worked as a personal trainer for many years (and to some extent still does), she is a holistic lifestyle coach, a functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner, and most recently earned her masters in holistic nutrition.
She’s a rockstar and I invited her back to the show today just to have an excuse to chat with her AND discuss diet, hormones, stress and even supplementation.
