What lights you up?
I have two boys, ages 6 and 8, that light up my heart. They make me strive to be a better person. We are a family that LOVES to spend time outdoors. I have enjoyed watching them learn and flourish in different sports and types of movement. Movement lights up my soul. As a Pilates Instructor, I am inspired by movement and learning more about how our bodies work and what we are capable of doing.
Why did you start working with Courtney?
I joined a 4-part video series about 4 years ago that talked about clean eating, drinking water, not doing endless hours of cardio and the importance of sleep. As I listened to each video, I felt like each presenter was talking DIRECTLY to me. I was in the fitness industry….I thought I was doing everything the right way….doing endless hours of cardio…eating what I thought was good but I was not seeing changes in my body, my mind and my overall health. I was really frustrated. One of the coaches on the video series was Courtney. I immediately connected with her and the rest is history.
How has health coaching helped not only your health, but in what ways did it help to improve other areas of your life?
It helped me become a better wife…a better mom…a better friend and a better Pilates Instructor. I am now more clear on what it means to be “healthy and happy”. I gained strength and confidence. My mind became more clear and overall I was “healthy and HAPPY”!!!!!!
What about your health process has been MOST challenging?
Knowing that it is a lifestyle change. It is a journey that I will always be traveling.
How did you overcome or move through that challenge?
It took me a few times of falling off the wagon and going back to my old ways before realizing that this is a lifetime journey that I have to work through daily. Some days are easy…some days are hard!!
What is your definition of Grace?
Grace is your essence. It’s the way we move through life effortlessly with confidence and strength.
What is your definition of Grit?
Grit is perseverance it takes to become graceful. It is you not giving up and working everyday on your journey.
What advice would you give to a woman who wants to improve her health story, but is struggling to do so?
Sit down and figure out your WHY!! Why do you want to improve your health? Your WHY is NOT “I want to lose 20 pounds”. It has to be SO MUCH bigger!! You have to be clear on what your goals are and how you are going to get there. Your WHY is the most important piece because it is what is going to get you through each struggle.
What woman in your life has inspired you the most?
I would have to say Courtney Townley…and I am not just saying that because I am doing this interview for her. She has truly inspired me in so many ways. Her presence and knowledge is so motivating. It is incredible to see how her career has transformed around health in so many ways and to see where she is at now. I have watched her personal movement practice transpire into something so incredible that inspires me to look further into what we can do with our bodies and different ways of movement.
What is next for you and how will your health support you in that endeavor?
My health is something that I will always have to work towards. There is always room for improvement. I have joined Courtney’s Inner Circle group, looking for accountability, knowledge and inspiration to keep me going on this journey.
